The challenge
Since 2023, Bolt, one of Europe’s fastest-growing ride-hailing platforms, aimed to strengthen its presence in France. With increasing competition in the urban mobility sector, Bolt needed a direct and measurable way to acquire new customers beyond traditional advertising methods. The challenge was to activate potential users in high-traffic areas and convert their interest into app downloads and rides.
They decided to invest in offline marketing to:
- Drive new user sign-ups and app downloads
- Increase ride bookings in targeted urban areas
- Engage potential customers with a compelling and immediate call to action
- Utilize offline channels to complement digital marketing efforts
Bolt was in need of an activation strategy that could effectively reach and engage potential users in key locations, prompting them to take immediate action and download the app.
Our solution
Campaign
Two flyer activations were launched in September and November 2023. Flyers featured a €15 first-ride discount with a QR code for instant sign-up. Brand ambassadors distributed them in suburban hotspots with heavy foot traffic, directly engaging Bolt’s target audience.
Face-to-face engagement helped build immediate trust, while the strong monetary incentive drove rapid conversions. Real-time performance tracking via Oppizi’s platform gave Bolt full visibility into redemptions and CPA.
The result
Across both campaigns, Bolt achieved strong measurable outcomes:
- 1110 new riders acquired from 63,100 flyers distributed
- 1.8% average conversion rate of across both campaigns
- Average cost per acquisition: €10.36 per new rider
Nearly half of redemptions occurred within days of distribution, demonstrating the immediacy of flyer-driven conversions. Since our partnership with Bolt began, we’ve distributed 80,000+ flyers across France, consistently driving new user growth
