Oppizi Copilot: the AI direct mail campaign builder that does the setup

By Morgan FavierSeptember 3, 20267 min read

Summary

  • Oppizi Copilot is an AI offline campaign builder inside Oppizi OS. Describe the campaign you want and it does the heavy lifting.
  • It writes to your real account rather than a mockup: targeting, routes, dates and artwork, priced live from the same engine the dashboard uses.
  • It ranks USPS carrier routes by who lives on them, using age, income, household size, language, education and home ownership.

Most campaign tools hand you a wizard: a run of screens to fill in, in whatever order the software prefers. You already know what you want. You just have to translate it into the software's questions.

Copilot removes the translation step. Open the chat panel in your dashboard and say what you are trying to do, in your own words. "I want to promote my new bakery to families near my store next month, budget around $2,000." Copilot asks the handful of questions it actually needs, then builds the campaign. It is the newest expression of Oppizi's agentic technology: software that plans and acts, not just answers.

Brands run real performance on our direct mail platform: a 4.4% average response rate and 161% median ROI across campaigns. The point of Copilot is to shorten the distance between deciding to run one and having one ready for review.

What is Oppizi Copilot?

Oppizi Copilot is an AI assistant built into the Oppizi OS dashboard that plans an offline marketing campaign with you and then builds it. It handles the targeting, the routes, the dates and the artwork, prices the campaign live, and submits it to the Oppizi team for human review.

The distinction that matters: Copilot writes to your real campaign. When it says the routes are saved, they are saved. It reads the campaign back to confirm before it tells you anything is done. Think of it as a colleague doing the setup, not a chatbot describing how the setup works.

How a build actually goes

Seven steps, in this order. Each is something Copilot does, not a stage in a funnel.

  1. Understand the goal. What you are promoting, to whom, where, roughly what budget, and when. One question at a time, not a form.
  2. Recommend a channel. Hand-to-Hand or Door-to-Door flyering, addressed mail, or every door mail, matched to the goal and the geography, with the trade-offs in plain language.
  3. Confirm before building. Copilot summarizes everything it is about to create and waits for a yes. Nothing is written to your account before that.
  4. Build the targeting. It resolves the address or city, pulls the available delivery areas or USPS carrier routes, proposes a selection that fits the budget, and saves your choice.
  5. Price it live. Quotes come from the same pricing engine the dashboard uses. Copilot only states numbers that engine returns.
  6. Attach artwork and dates. It picks up an existing design from your account or points you to the builder to upload one, and checks your launch date against real lead times before saving it.
  7. Submit for human review. The campaign goes to the Oppizi team. That is where Copilot's job ends.

It picks mail routes by who lives on them

This is the part that changes results rather than saving clicks.

For every door direct mail (EDDM) in the US, Copilot can rank USPS carrier routes by how well the households match your target: age, income, household size, language, education, home ownership and several others. Not simply the routes nearest your pin. These are the same carrier routes USPS uses for USPS Every Door Direct Mail.

Two businesses on the same block can want completely different neighborhoods. A family bakery and a physiotherapy clinic starting from the same corner get different maps, because the households that matter to each of them live on different streets.

It knows the rules that sink campaigns at review

Minimum residence counts. Mail-piece formats. The address box USPS requires on the artwork. Lead times that make a requested launch date impossible.

Copilot raises these while there is still time to change them, rather than letting a campaign fail review a week later. It also checks against the USPS mailpiece standards: an EDDM piece must be at least 0.007 inches thick and under 3.3 ounces, and Copilot flags a format miss before submission.

For EDDM, Copilot also runs its own viability check that you have at least 1,000 residences across the selected routes, plus a real print and ship lead-time check that your start date is at least seven business days out, before anything gets submitted.

What Copilot will not do

For anyone deciding whether to let an assistant near their marketing budget, the limits matter more than the features.

  • It never takes money. No payment, no checkout, no card details. Anything billing-shaped goes to a person.
  • A person reviews every campaign. Nothing Copilot builds goes live on its own. Submitted means submitted for review.
  • Audience data goes through a compliant path. Today, an audience built from a customer list is created in the secure upload rather than in the conversation. A PII-compliant drag and drop inside the chat is on the way, so the whole build will happen in one thread.
  • It does not invent numbers. Prices and route counts come from the platform's own engines. If a quote is not available, it says so rather than estimating.
  • It asks before fetching a human. Escalation brings a team member into the same thread, but Copilot tells you what it is about to send and waits for a yes.

It answers questions too

Copilot knows offline marketing in depth, so the questions you used to open a browser tab for now have an answer in the same window: how a channel works, what a metric means, what the USPS rules actually are. It can also pull performance, spend, and analytics for your own past campaigns, so "how did the last one do, and should I run it again?" becomes one thread instead of two tools.

Useful, yes. But that isn't the reason to open Copilot. The reason is that it builds the next campaign.

"We spent years making offline marketing measurable. Copilot is the next step: it does the work with you, in the platform, so a good campaign never stalls waiting on a question no one was around to answer."

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI direct mail campaign builder?

An AI direct mail campaign builder sets up a mail campaign from a plain-language description instead of a form. Oppizi Copilot asks what it needs, selects the targeting, prices the campaign live, attaches your artwork and dates, then submits it for human review inside your account.

Can Oppizi Copilot launch a campaign on its own?

No. Copilot builds the campaign, then submits it to the Oppizi team for review. It never takes payment, never handles card details, and never sends anything to a letterbox on its own. A person reviews every campaign before it ships.

How does Copilot choose EDDM routes?

It ranks USPS carrier routes by how well the households on them match your target, using signals like age, income, household size, language, education, and home ownership. The result is a selection based on who actually lives there, rather than simply the routes closest to your address.

Is Oppizi Copilot available to everyone?

Partly. Anyone can ask Copilot questions on the Oppizi US site. Building a campaign end to end inside Oppizi OS is in beta with a selected group of US customers and is not yet generally available. Testers see it as Copilot v2 (beta) in the chat panel. Ask your account contact if you would like early access.

Is my data safe in the Copilot chat?

Audience data moves through Oppizi's secure, encrypted upload path rather than being processed in the conversation. Today that means the audience is created in the upload flow. A PII-compliant drag and drop inside the chat is being added, so the whole build can happen in one thread.

Which channels can Copilot build?

Hand-to-Hand flyering, Door-to-Door flyering, addressed direct mail, and Every Door Direct Mail, all in the US. Copilot sets the city and the distribution areas for flyering, the list for addressed mail, and the carrier routes for EDDM. More channels are being added as the beta widens.
